Reading Abbey and Forbury Gardens

The centre of Reading is graced by the beautiful Forbury Gardens with ruins of the once power medieval abbey. The abbey’s founder and benefactor was Henry I who was then buried at the front of the high altar in 1136. A truly historical site, visitors will undoubtedly enjoy what will be a truly informative visit to these beautiful gardens.

Thames River Cruise

The famous Thames river runs through Reading and the offer of a river cruise allows visitors to take to the water and see the sites of Reading from a different angle. The cruises run from  Thameside Promenade just upstream of Caversham Bridge and run to Mapledurham House & Watermill. The boat takes to the water in the summer months between April and September. 

Shopping

Awash with shops to suit everyone, the high street in Reading provides visitors with original independent shops offering goods such as old fashioned sweets through to custom-made furniture. The famous Oracle Shopping Centre, acts as a key focal point in the city and offers visitors a diverse range of shops as well as restaurants, cafes and bars.
