Brighton & Hove is a hugely popular city just one hour away from London. Voted as one of the top 10 city beach break destinations in the world, it sees a high influx of visitors each summer who come to experience the beautiful coastline, and explore the city which is thought to omit a bohemian atmosphere. Brighton is also popular for its independent restaurants and vibrant nightlife which operate all year round.
Tourist Attractions
Royal Pavilion
This exotic building has been described as: ‘ an extraordinary and extravagant pleasure palace’ and is one of the city’s most distinctive landmarks. Built by the Prince Regent (later King George IV) in stages between 1787 and 1823 it attracted regency society to the area. This building is truly admirable and is a must-see whilst in the city.
Brighton Pier
Brighton is famed for its pier which boasts many arcades and eateries to suit all tastes. During the summer months visitors flock to the pier for a relaxing stroll and the opportunity to admire the beautiful coastline.
Fabrica
A contemporary art gallery in Southeast of the city, it holds exhibitions of important new works by international artists. Fabrica is not a selling gallery, instead its purpose is to display exciting large scale work and media installations.
Shopping
Brighton is famous for its independent vintage stores and independent art shops. The renowned Lanes offer a mix of high-end boutique stores in among beautiful winding streets. The city also has a modern shopping centre which offers many of the UK’s chain stores within.
Eating Out
Brighton offers restaurants and cafés in abundance. Vegetarians will be particularly spoilt for choice in this city, the most famous vegetarian restaurant being Food for Friends which was established in 1981 and proudly stands in the Lanes area. For a daytime treat, Hell’s Kitchen is an a stand-up American style deli which offers bagels and salted beef among other options.
Nightlife
This city is famed for its vibrant nightlife. With the offer of live music venues, theatre and a variety of nightclubs, bars, and pubs. Popular venues include Digital Nightclub set on the seafront, the renowned Carnivalesque club, and the Brighton Ballroom.
